Spc. Nicole Torgerson and Sgt. Colin Steffa, of the Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard, drive mules Jenny and Joy as they haul members of the 1st Inf. Div. Band Nov. 28 during the Junction City Christmas Parade.  The city hosted the parade as a start to the holiday season and to bring Santa Claus to town.  CGMCG troopers also presented the colors during the annual event.

Staff Sgt. Richard Ingle, 1st Inf. Div. Band, performs “Must Have Been Old Santa Claus” for more than 400 spectators in the first of two holiday shows Dec. 14, 2013, at the C.L. Hoover Opera House, Junction City. The 1st Inf. Div. Band and Junction City Community Band will perform “Sounds of the Season” Dec. 12 to 14 at the C.L. Hoover Opera House. The concerts are free; however, tickets are required.

The 1st Inf. Div. Band performs “White Christmas” for an audience of more than 400 in the first of two holiday shows Dec. 14, 2013, at the C.L. Hoover Opera House, Junction City. The concert was full of holiday favorites and included traditional Hanukkah music. The musical ensemble also included members from the Junction City Community Band.

The KU Jayhawks hosted a Salute to Service game in honor of Veterans Day. The CGMCG and members of the 1st Infantry Division Band represented the “Big Red One” at the game, which KU won, 34-14.

The “Iron Rangers” joined the 1st Inf. Div. Band in providing support through the parade, which swept through downtown Manhattan before heading to the Aggieville business district and ending in City Park.  K-State won its Homecoming football game Oct. 25 against Texas, 23-0.

Spc. Amanda DiClerico, 1st Inf. Div. Band, plays her tenor trombone July 10 in the band’s headquarters building. DiClerico has only been with the band for a few weeks, but she has been playing the instrument since she was 11. “I come from a very military-oriented town,” said the Virginia Beach, Va., native. “The Army, the Marines and the Navy have their school of music there, so I’ve studied with various military musicians throughout my life. I knew coming out of college that was something I’d like to do as well.”
