Pfc. Michael P. Pittman, 34, died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device and small arms fire June 15 in Baghdad, Iraq.

Pittman was a cavalry scout assigned to 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. His home of record is Davenport, Iowa.

He entered the Army in August 2005 and began serving with the 1st Inf. Div. in January 2006. This was his first deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

To date, 107 Fort Riley Soldiers have been killed while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
