Staff Sgt. Roy P. Lewsader Jr., Killed Jun. 16, 2007, Transition Team member

Staff Sgt. Roy P. Lewsader Jr., 36, died from wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade June 16 in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan.

Lewsader was an infantryman serving on a transition team assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. His home of record is Clinton, Ind.

He entered active Army in September 1993 and deployed on the 1st Inf. Div. transition team in January 2007. This was his second deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

To date, 108 Fort Riley Soldiers have been killed while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
