Sgt. Dominic J. Sacco, 32, of Albany, N.Y., was killed Nov. 20 in Taji, Iraq when he was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire.

Sacco was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 13th Armor as a tanker. While in Iraq, he served as tank commander of a M1A1 Abrahams tank.

He enlisted in the Army in March 1996. He came to Fort Riley November 1997.

This was Sacco's second deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Approximately 3,700 Fort Riley Soldiers are currently deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. This incident brings the number of Fort Riley active duty Soldiers who have died while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to 59
