Spc. Rodney J. Johnson, 20, died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit Sept. 4 in Baghdad, Iraq.

Johnson was a cavalry scout assigned to 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. His home of record is Houston.

He entered the Army in September 2005 and began serving with the 1st Inf. Div. in March 2006. This was his first deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

To date, 127 Fort Riley Soldiers have been killed while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Additionally, one transition team Air Force Airman was killed July 9 in Afghanistan.
