Spc. Yoe M. Aneiros, Killed Sept. 7, 2004

Spc. Yoe, (Yo-A), M. Aneiros, (Ann-air-os), 20, of Newark, N.J., died Sept. 7, near Sadr City, Iraq during a rocket-propelled grenade attack.

Aneiros was a tank crewman (loader) with Fort Riley's Company C, 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division.

He enlisted into the Army in September of 2002.

Aneiros had been stationed at Fort Riley since January 2003 and deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom in June 2004. Aneiros had a previous tour in Iraq in 2003.

The incident is under investigation.

Approximately 4,100 Fort Riley Soldiers are currently deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. This incident brings the number of Fort Riley Soldiers who have died while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to 42.
