Pfc. Patrick J. Miller, Killed Mar. 29, 2008

Two Soldiers were killed March 29 in Baghdad from wounds suffered when they encountered an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.

Killed were:

Spc. Durrell L. Bennett, 22

Pfc. Patrick J. Miller, 23

Bennett was an infantryman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. His home of record is Spanaway, Wash. He entered the Army in August 2005. He began serving with the 1st Inf. Div. in December 2005. This was his first deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

Miller was an infantryman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. His home of record is New Port Richey, Fla. He entered the Army in March 2007. He began serving with the 1st Inf. Div. in July 2007. This was his first deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

To date 147 Fort Riley Soldiers and Airmen have been killed while serving in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
