Spc. Christopher Wayne Dickison, 26, of Seattle, Wash., was killed July 5 near Baqubah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device exploded when he was on patrol.

Dickison was a scout with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.

He enlisted in the Army in April 2002.

Dickison had been stationed at Fort Riley since October 2002. He deployed with his unit in January 2005 for his first rotation to Iraq.

The incident is under investigation.

Approximately 3,600 Fort Riley Soldiers are currently deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. This incident brings the number of Fort Riley Soldiers who have died while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to 53.
