Spc. Donald J. Hasse, Killed Nov. 29, 2005

Spc. Donald J. Hasse, 28, of Wichita Falls, Texas, was killed Nov. 29 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV while his unit was conducting combat operations in Taji, Iraq.

Hasse was assigned to Company A, 1 st Battalion, 13th Armor as a tanker.

He enlisted in the Army in October 1995 and arrived at Fort Riley in March 2003.

This was Hasse's second deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Hasse was posthumously promoted to a Sergeant.

Approximately 3,700 Fort Riley Soldiers are currently deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. This incident brings the number of Fort Riley active duty Soldiers who have died while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to
