After serving a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan, Soldiers with 230th Financial Management Support Detachment, Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Infantry Division returned Oct. 17 to Fort Riley.

Soldiers, Family members and friends watched as the Capt. Jacqueline Giulitto and Sgt. 1st Class Khalid Fadul, 230th FMSD command team, uncased their unit colors – symbolizing the unit's official return to Kansas – during a redeployment ceremony.

The unit was responsible for a wide array of financial services throughout the Logar and Wardak provinces of Afghanistan.

Part of the unit's mission was to help Afghanistan build a successful economy by ensuring Afghan currency was not devalued by disbursing an overabundance of U.S. dollars, as part of the goal to maintain a cashless battlefield throughout Afghanistan.

Soldiers also provided financial disbursing services to more than 10,000 Soldiers, U.S. civilians, contractors and local nationals. They assisted in correcting military pay issues, issuing Eagle Cash Cards and answering pay inquiries.
