Tornado Safety Plan
Fort Riley is subject to the threat of severe weather year-round. The annual statewide tornado drill took place March 10 at 1:30 pm local time. Test tornado warnings will be issued via National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Weather Radio and the Emergency Alert System for distribution statewide. This week is the ideal time for Families to make sure they are prepared for severe weather. Families should develop a safety plan for times when they are participating in outdoor recreation activities, sporting events or working outdoors.
Fort Riley has spent over $900,000 this past year to install 20 additional Giant Voice Notification Towers, 2 additional Tornado sirens and upgraded the AtHOC messaging software.
