Storing Househoold Goods and Vehicles
Story by: DEP MOB Staff
When you are mobilized, what are you going to do with your household goods and car? Moving your Family and household goods at government expense is not authorized, but there are some options available after mobilization is completed. But, it is usually better to leave your Family right where they are.
Your unit may have a Family Readiness Group. The Family Readiness Group enables Family members to establish and operate a system through which they can effectively gather information, solve problems and maintain a system of mutual support. The Family Readiness Center at Army Community Service and your unit will have more information about the group.
If you are single, you are authorized storage of household goods at government expense or to ship those household goods to a designated location. As a Single service member you may also be able to authorize another person, by the means of a power of attorney to conduct your business while deployed.
