SAMC Soldiers work with Clay Center on 2nd Annual Flower Project
SAMC members prepare and deliver flower pots to the Clay Center business
district on 5 May 2012.
The Clay Center Women's Club and members of the Fort Riley Chapter of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club (SAMC) met on May 5th for its 2nd Annual Flower Project. Together, with the help of Master Gardener Eldon Boling, they mixed soils and filled huge pots, planted flowers and watered them thoroughly. By noon they had 36 pots of flowers ready to be delivered to local businesses around downtown Clay Center.
The Women's Club of Clay Center was awarded First Place in Kansas at the GFCW State Convention for last year's flower project. They hope this year's flower pots will produce an even more extravagant and beautiful display and get another first place finish at the convention.
"It was a great experience and I look forward to seeing how these flowers turnout in a few weeks" said SFC Bell, President of the Fort Riley Chapter SAMC. The two clubs have made plans to continue working together in the future and support each other.
