Fort Riley's Outdoor Recreation Center has officially moved to its new location in Building 1806 at Camp Funston.
A concern for Outdoor Recreation employees was whether the public would have trouble finding their new location. That concern was quickly put at ease.
"It's actually been going quite well," said Travis Engle, recreation programmer, Outdoor Recreation Center, Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation. "We've received a lot of phone calls, a lot of visits to the new facility, and people are finding us."
The Outdoor Recreation Center is set and is gearing up for the warmer season. Equipment rentals and group trips are available to military Families eager to get out and experience the great outdoors. The center also operates the Fort Riley Skeet and Trap Range and the Fort Riley Marina at Milford Lake.
"We've pretty much got all of our rentable equipment over here, so we are fully operational," Engle said.
The paintball field and rock wall also are available for participants to use at the new location. The rock wall and paintball field are situated next to each other in the activity program area, Engle said.
"We've got open play paintball that we're now offering as one of our new programs," Engle said. "It's basically a drop in; if you want to paint ball that day you can."
No pre-registration is required for the open play paintball.
The paintball program will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Families interested in renting party equipment for upcoming events and holidays including Memorial Day weekend, should check out the center, Engle said.
"You can come here and get all your equipment rental needs," he said.
The Outdoor Recreation Center is operating under summer hours. The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday to Saturday.
