Volunteers with the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division were recognized for their efforts during a dual ceremony April 24 at the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery headquarters.
Families, Soldiers, leaders and friends attended the brigade's 2012 Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer for the First Quarter 2013 ceremony to show their appreciation for all of the volunteers' hard work.
"This is just our way of showing the appreciation that these volunteers deserve," said Col. Michael Pappal, 1st ABCT commander. "They need to know that they're appreciated for everything they've done, and the time that they've given to helping the community and their units to being better off."
The brigade is proud of the hard work from all the volunteers, Pappal said.
"I have a lot of admiration for the volunteers," said Helen Day, Family readiness support assistant, Special Troops Battalion and 4th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st ABCT.
