The 1st Infantry Division Band is the musical ambassador for the United States' premier fighting force.

The Big Red One Band's mission is to represent the 1st Infantry Division for military ceremonies and the communities that support the American soldiers.

Capable of performing a variety of music, the 38-member ensemble frequently entertains audiences with light overtures, marches, show tunes and big band music of the 40s and 50s.

Located at Fort Riley, the 1st ID Band performs throughout Kansas.

Staff Sgt. Andrew Goncalves goes back and forth between the bass and guitar during a 1st Infantry Division Band recital March 28 at the band’s headquarters at Fort Riley, as Sgt. 1st Class Robert Davidson plays the drums. The two were part of a trio that played a variety of jazz selections. The band is set to host regular recitals at the end of every month. For more information on the recitals, follow the 1st Inf. Payton receives ‘outstanding’ honors
