Spc Leach, 2-34 AR shared a few of his thoughts about his friend. "Codys relaxed demeanor quickly rubbed off on everyone else. With
the stress of the up coming deployment and the constant field problems it
seemed that everyone was on edge, except Cody. He rolled with the punches,
not letting anything bother him and soon most everyone around him adopted
his character. Cody made an impression on everyone around he came in contact
with, and I think it was because of his selflessness. You hear people say
that a certain person would give the shirt off their back in order to help,
well I can tell you that Cody was one of those people. Cody would give up
his last energy drink or cigarette if asked, and that is something that you
just don't do!! But to Cody it was nothing. He'd do anything for his friends
and family. He always was willing to give more than he had just to help
anyone in need. His selflessness was one of his best traits. And he paid the
ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, and knowing Cody, that's what he'd want." (photo by Staff Sgt Melissa Crawford, 1 HBCT PAO)
